Renterly

For landlords

Your side of the record,
in your own words.

Tenants are writing about your properties whether or not you are here. A verified claim puts your reply next to theirs, and tells you the moment a review lands.

The list above is what we are building to help great landlords engage with their tenants and market their property. If you have a feature request, we’d love to hear from you.

What one claim covers

One claim, one property — the one you actually hold.

Most addresses are held by one landlord, and a claim covers the whole thing: the address, every unit inside it, and every review filed against any of them.

Some addresses aren’t held by one landlord at all. A townhouse complex is separately-owned homes sharing a street address, and a condo building is separately-owned units. There is no single landlord to verify at that level, so a claim there covers your home or your unit — which is what you own, and what the reviews you can reply to are about.

Claimed whole

One claim covers the address and everything in it.

  • Apartment Building
  • House
  • Multiplex
  • Townhouse
  • Rooming House
  • Rental Townhouse Complex
  • Land Lease Home
  • Land Lease Community
  • Cooperative

Claimed a home at a time

Separately owned, so a claim covers yours alone.

  • Condo Building — your unit
  • Townhouse Complex — your townhouse
  • Housing Community — your home

What the fee covers

It pays for the verification, and that’s all it pays for.

Someone reads the documents you upload and confirms the property is yours. That work is what the $20 is for.

It doesn’t change what appears on the page. Reviews and public records stay as they are, and moderation works the same way whether an address is claimed or not — a claim adds your reply beside a review rather than changing the review.

If you think a review breaks our rules, or a record has the wrong landlord or the wrong dates, tell us. Both are free, for anyone, and a claimed address gets no different treatment than an unclaimed one.

The detail is in the Terms at sections 5.2 and 5.3, and in the Review Policy.

Adding a property is free. Claiming one you own is $20.

Creating an account costs nothing, and so does adding an address that isn’t on Renterly yet. The fee is for verifying that the property is yours.
