- Decision against landlordApril 21, 2026
Landlord's application dismissed · not proved
- Personal use eviction
- Bad faith eviction
The tribunal denied the landlords' request to review an earlier decision that dismissed their personal-use eviction application. The original dismissal was confirmed after finding the landlords lacked genuine intent and served the eviction notice in retaliation for the tenants refusing an illegal lease.
- The landlords' request to review order LTB-L-084587-25 is denied and the order dismissing the eviction application is confirmed.

Maximum increase in Ontario this year
Status as reported by tenants.
Ontario caps most rent increases at 2.1% for 2026. Rent can only go up once every 12 months, and your landlord must give at least 90 days written notice on Form N1. Important exception: units first occupied for residential purposes after November 15, 2018 are exempt from the cap entirely — the landlord can raise rent by any amount with proper notice. Rent control also does not apply between tenancies (vacancy decontrol), so a landlord may reset the rent to any amount for a new tenant.
